Versa Die Cast, Inc. traces its origins through two former Minneapolis based die
casting companies. In 1988 Versa was formed by combining the operations of Castmatic, Inc.
and Rosemount Die Casting. Both companies had been purchased by Versa Companies, the
corporate parent of Versa Die Cast, Inc. in the mid 1980's.
Versa Die Cast, Inc. began by occupying the same building as the former Castmatic,
Inc. in suburban Minneapolis. At the outset it consisted mainly of a cast a trim operation
with only 4 die casting machines located in 40,000 square feet. Secondary machining
operations were virtually nonexistent within the company at that time.
Versa Die Cast, Inc. enjoyed steady growth through the end of the 1980's into the
early 1990's when it became necessary to expand the production facilities. In 1994 a plant
expansion added nearly 60,000 square feet of manufacturing space on to the existing
building.
Today, Versa Die Cast, Inc. consists of 10 die casting machines with floor space
available for up to 5 additional machines. The current machines range from 250 tons to 900
tons in size. All machines are highly automated using robotic extractors and reciprocating
spray systems.
Significant growth has also occurred in Versa's ability to provide value-added
machining and subassembly to customers with finished, ready for use products. Since the
1994 expansion, several state-of-the-art CNC Machining Centers have also been acquired.
These machines will continue to provide Versa the ability to sustain steady growth in the
years ahead.
Besides the CNCs, Versa Die Cast, Inc. has also added several new important pieces
of equipment in the last few years. They include:
Versa Die Cast's commitment to producing the highest quality of value-added products
has enabled consistent growth since our last 1980's inception. Based on the strong
foundation that has been established, Versa Die Cast, Inc. looks forward to continued
strong growth as we enter into the next millennium.
